Morocco came from behind to hold Congo DR to a 1-1 draw in Kinshasa.

Wissa opened the scoring in the 12th minute, before Mmaee levelled nine minutes after the break.

Islam Slimani netted the only goal as Algeria shocked Cameroon 1-0 in Yaounde.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria were held to a 0-0 draw in Ghana and Egypt exacted a measure of revenge with a 1-0 win over Senegal in Cairo.

Tunisia beat 10-man Mali 1-0, thanks to an own goal from Moussa Sissako.

The second legs will be played in four days’ time.
