Deji Adeyanju, a prominent activist and leader of the #EndBadGovernance protest, has confirmed that 26 individuals, including protesters and journalists, have been released from detention.
Adeyanju stated that efforts are ongoing to secure the release of the remaining protesters still in custody. He expressed optimism that security agencies would act reasonably and release all individuals, as they have no legal grounds to detain anyone for participating in a protest.
“We have released 26 protesters, including six journalists, unconditionally,” Adeyanju said. “We are aware of approximately 16 additional protesters currently detained in Abuja, and hundreds more in other states.”
Adeyanju warned that if the remaining protesters are not released within 48 hours, legal action would be pursued. He also urged Nigerians to demand accountability from their leaders and hold them responsible for their actions.
