Yobe Varsity Partners Commission to Tackle Illiteracy, Unemployment in NE

Yobe State University has partnered with the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children Education to address issues of illiteracy, skill acquisition, and entrepreneurship in the northeast region.

The Vice-Chancellor of Yobe State University, Prof. Mala M. Daura, represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Central Administration), Dr Bukar Jamri, said the partnership is in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Education for Renewed Hope agenda.

The collaboration will help integrate Quranic and Tsangaya Education and provide skill acquisition and entrepreneurship training.

The university has specialized centers that will partner with the commission, including the Centre for Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development and the Centre for Continuing Education.

The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Almajiri and Out-of-School Children, Dr. Muhammad Sani Idris, said the commission is passionate about revitalizing Tsangaya Education in the North and has chosen Yobe State University as one of the centers to draw a roadmap for the 36 states in the federation.

The partnership aims to reduce illiteracy and unemployment in the northeast region and promote skill acquisition and entrepreneurship.

The university has also appointed the Executive Secretary as a Member of the Advisory Council of the Centre for Research in Qur’anic Studies and honored him with an award.
