At least 30 candidates have been jailed for engaging in different forms of examination malpractices during the Unified Tertiary Matriculation examinations, Registrar, Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, disclosed this in Lagos on Sunday while reviewing the board’s activities.

He explained that the board had done a lot in sanitizing the system and reducing cases of malpractices thereby improving on the integrity of the ranking examination. He also said that the board adopted the Central Admissions Processing Systems (CAPS) for the 2019/2020 admission year, adding that this was to prevent institutions from unilaterally changing candidates’ courses and skipping a higher ranking candidate to pick a lower ranking one.

He warned universities to desist from using any other method apart from CAPS for admission , adding that any admission done outside CAPS would be declared null and void. He advised candidates to ensure that they do everything on their JAMB profiles. He said, “ There shall be no regularization of any irregular admission. Any candidate that is not on JAMB admission list is not admitted, any candidate that does anything outside JAMB profile does so at his or her own risk.’’
