NUC approves 13 courses for Anchor University

The National Universities Commission (NUC), has accredited 13 courses at the Anchor University, Lagos.

The institution presented 13 of the 15 courses it offers to the commission, with eleven of them being granted full accreditation and the other 2, interim accreditation.

The Vice-Chancellor of the Varsity, Prof Joseph Afolayan, made this announcement at an emergency senate meeting held by the institution.

Recall that the university at its take-off in 2017 had 15 programmes approved by the NUC , out of which 13 were presented for accreditation in October/November 2019 as provided by the NUC guidelines.

Afolayan attributed the accreditation of all 13 presented programmes as a proof of the institution’s culture of excellence. Speaking further, he commended members of the Senate for their efforts during the exercise and urged them not to relent in their efforts.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Director of Academic Planning, Prof J.O Fatokun, while presenting details of the results to the Senate, said the result was an encouragement to the university and everyone who contributed to the exercise.

The programmes presented for accreditation last year were Bachelor’s Degrees in Accounting; Economics; Mass Communication; Business Administration; Political Science; Biochemistry; Chemistry; Computer Science; Mathematics; Microbiology; Physics; English & Literary Studies; and History & Diplomatic Studies.
