‘About To Wed’ Couple Kidnapped, Huge Ransom Demanded

A couple who is supposed to get married on Saturday, September 25th have been kidnapped and a ransom of  N5million demanded.

The couple were abducted by gunmen along Ilasa-Ayebode road, in the Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Tribune reports.

The couple were attacked on their way from Ado- Ekiti where they had gone to buy some things for their upcoming wedding.

The victims were ferried to an unknown destination before their attackers put a call through to the family to demand a ransom of N5million.

A source said: “The victims were preparing for their wedding slated for this Saturday. They came to Ado Ekiti to purchase some items and they were returning to their base when they were accosted on the road by gunmen and got kidnapped.

“They were accosted at a very bad portion of the road where the vehicle slowed down. The deplorable condition of our roads was responsible for some of these kidnappings in Ekiti.”

The Police Public Relations Officer of the Ekiti branch, ASP Sunday Abutu, also collaborated the story. He said that local hunters and Amotekun were sent to the area to ensure the safe return of the victims.

He said: “We learnt that the couple came to Ado Ekiti and were returning to their base when they were picked up by gunmen. Immediately we got the report, the Police Commissioner, Tunde Mobayo mobilised our men and officers to the surrounding forests.

“As I speak, our men are working in conjunction with Amotekun Corps, local hunters and vigilante group combing the forests to free the victims.”

He also added that some people have already been arrested in relation to the case, and they were being detained for further questioning.
