Dr. Olabisi Deji-Folutile, Director of Operations at AF24NEWS, has been named the University of Lagos Mass Communication Alumni Association’s Distinguished Online Media Professional of the Year (UMCAA).
She was recognised by the association at its annual Dinner and Awards night, which was held in Lagos on Saturday.
According to the organisers, the UMCAA Dinner and Awards night is an event introduced to appreciate illustrious members – individuals and sets – that have contributed immensely to the development of the department and the growth of the association.
Speaking at the awards, Elder Tunde Awobiyi, Chairman of the Dinner and Awards Committee stated that Dr. Deji-Folutile’s recognition became necessary to appreciate excellence, set standard, and encourage the alumni.
He stated that the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Lagos is one of the country’s oldest, having been founded in 1966.

“It is home to many of Nigeria’s best journalists, educators, administrators, and media executives who work in the country’s communication and media industries”, Awobiyi said.
Dr. Deji-Folutile, who is also the Publisher and editor-in-chief of Franktalknow.com, expressed her gratitude for the award, saying that being named Online Media Professional of the Year would inspire her to do more.
She said, “The award coming from this distinguished wall of eminent personalities is indeed a pleasant surprise. I appreciate it and pray for greater heights for us all in Jesus’ name. Thank you very much for the recognition.”
