AfDB commits $25bn to African climate fund – Adesina

Akinwumi Adesina, the President of the African Development Bank, said the bank has committed to providing $25 billion to climate finance by 2050.

 

He disclosed this on Tuesday, the second day of the African Climate Summit at The Kenyatta International Convention Centre, Nairobi, Kenya.

He noted that the apex development bank had launched the African Adaption Act Commission programme in conjunction with the Global Centre on Adaption to speed up climate initiatives in the continent.

“At the national level, we must accelerate actions on climate adaptation, and that is why the African Development Bank has committed to providing $25bn to climate finance by 2025”, he stated.
