The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has uncovered a disturbing trend of candidates inflating their Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) results.

JAMB has exposed the methods employed by these candidates and their sponsors to defraud Nigerians. The board has issued a warning to the public, urging them to verify claims made by candidates before accepting them as genuine.

Candidates Exploiting Software Packages
JAMB has revealed that some candidates are using software packages to manipulate their UTME results. These individuals create fake versions of their scores and share them publicly, claiming to have achieved exceptional results or the highest scores in the examination. This fraudulent practice has become a means for the alleged sponsors of these candidates to deceive unsuspecting Nigerians.

Case Of Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma And Atung Gerald
JAMB highlighted specific instances of result manipulation, citing the cases of Miss Ejikeme Joy Mmesoma and Atung Gerald from Kaduna state. Both candidates claimed to have obtained remarkable scores of 362 and 380, respectively, in the 2023 UTME. However, investigations revealed that neither of them had applied for the UTME nor participated in the examination. It was discovered that a certain software was used to fabricate their results, which were then used to defraud people.

Authentic Results With JAMB
JAMB clarified that the genuine UTME results are securely held by the board and will be transmitted to the candidates’ chosen schools at the appropriate time. While the candidates may succeed in manipulating their own documents, the official results remain in JAMB’s possession. Therefore, any claims made by candidates regarding their scores should be verified with the board to ensure their authenticity.
