Amedu takes over from Smith as NBTS head

The National Blood Transfusion Service ( NBTS) has a new National Coordinator. He is Dr Omale Joseph Amedu.

A statement by the agency’s  Head, Media and Communications, Abdullahi Haruna,  describes Amedu as a trained medical doctor, administrator and leadership mentor. He replaces Smith who retires from the Civil Service after a meritorious service to the nation.

Amedu is a graduate of the University of Jos, University of Liverpool UK, Olabisi Olabanjo University, Ago-Iwoye, National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru and the Atlantic International University, Honolulu- Hawaii, USA where he bagged MBBCh Degree (Jos), PGD-GUM/V (Liverpool, UK), Certificate in Administration, Samfort Associates, Certificate, Developing Management Skill- Crown Agents, UK, Masters in Public Administration – MPA(Ago-Iwoye), Diploma, Advanced Leadership Skills and Management, Singapore, Certificate, Strategies in Health Development, China, Certificate in Current issues in development, Hetta Institute, USA, Certificate of Member of the National Institute, mni and PhD International Relations, Honolulu, Hawaii, USA.

Amedu has charged staff on the need to be diligent, focused and result-oriented to ensure meeting the increasing blood needs of the country and blood safety.

He has also approved the reorganisation of the service with these offices and officers accordingly;
Laboratory Services and Quality Department headed by, Dr Kingsley Odiabara, Blood Services, Dr Jimoh Zubairu, Head of Accounts and Finance, Mr Ottun Lateef, Head, Planning, Research and Statistics, Dr Adaeze Oreh, Head of Administration, Mrs Adetoun Kalejaiye, Head of Media /Communications, Abdullahi Haruna and Head of Regulatory Department, Mr Elton Oga.
