Amidst Hike In School Fees: Peter Obi Sends Varsity Don Important Message

The presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the 2023 general elections, Peter Obi has urged David Mba, a Nigerian professor who was recently appointed Vice-Chancellor at Birmingham City University to seek ways to contribute to the nation’s educational system amidst an increase in tuition fees account the country.

Sharing photos of David Mba via his Twitter handle, the LP candidate on Saturday noted that the good education Mba received at various stages of his life placed him on a global stage.

Obi further maintained that Prof Mba’s journey to greatness must remind the populace of the great intellectual potential that Nigerians are endowed with and the reason one must pay more attention to and invest more in our educational sector.

His statement reads: “I most heartily congratulate Professor David Mba, a Nigerian who was recently appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Birmingham City University, where he is expected to assume office in October.

”Over the years, Prof Mba has remained active in the academic sector of the United Kingdom, where he served in major roles in different major institutions.

“Prof Mba’s journey to greatness reminds us of the great intellectual potential that Nigerians are endowed with and why we must pay more attention to and invest more in our educational sector.

“The good education Prof Mba received at various stages of his life placed him on the global stage. No nation raises great and responsible citizens without education.

Recall that the Federal Ministry of Education announced the increase in Unity Schools tuition in a memo issued from the office of the director of the Senior Secondary Education Department which was signed by its director, Hajia Binta Abdulkadir.

This comes shortly after the University Of Lagos, (Unilag) announced the increment of school fees from forty-five thousand naira to one hundred thousand naira.
