Chieftains of the All Progressives Congress from 12 local government areas of Anambra state have slammed their candidate Sen. Andy Uba and the state chairman Mr Basil Ejidike, saying that the duo can not change the wishes of the people.

Speaking on behalf of the APC chieftains on Monday, Mr Chukwuemeka Kennedy Nnebe, told newsmen that Basil Ejidike has no basis to challenge the outcome of the governorship election held in the state.

Nnebe maintained that Andy Uba was not their popular candidate for the election.

He stressed that the APC didn’t conduct any primary election and that the state chairman, Ejidike was protecting the interest of his preferred candidate against the overall interest of the All Progressives Congress.

Nnebe who is also secretary of the APC in the Orumba-North local government area said the APC caucus from the 12 local government areas has dissociated itself from the anti-party activities of the chairman because the wishes of Anambra citizens superseded APC as a party.

According to him, they still maintained that there were no primaries that produced Sen. Andy Uba and they vehemently opposed his nomination as the candidate of the APC in Anambra state.

He also disclosed that what transpired on the 26th day of June this year was arrant fraud allegedly committed by the state chairman of APC Mr Basil Ejidike and his cronies.

As a result, Nnebe explained that the 12 local government areas fought for the betterment of the APC in Anambra state and still hold its position that the party did not produce any candidate for the governorship election.

Nnebe however stated categorically that the 12 local government areas of the APC henceforth throw their weight behind Professor Chukwuma Charles Soludo.

He said, “Our attention has been drawn to statements by the chairman of All Progressives Congress in Anambra Mr Basil Ejidike where he called for the cancellation of the November 6 gubernatorial election in Anambra state.

“It has become imperative that we address these issues clearly and to make it clear that Basil Ejidike belongs to those that have fought and subverted the good things that should have come to Anambra state and he has no good intentions for Anambra people.

“Mr Basil Ejidike subverted democratic process to become the acting state chairman of APC in Anambra and has no locus standi to challenge the outcome of a physical and transparent election in Anambra state.

“Mr Andy Uba whose interest he is protecting is not a valid candidate in the election because the process that produced him as the candidate of APC was an electoral fraud and undemocratic.

“Anambra people have spoken by the results already announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and the opposition especially Mr Basil Ejidike and his cronies, can not change the wishes and the mandate of Ndi-Anambra to sustain socioeconomic development in Anambra State.

“We, therefore, congratulate Governor Willie Obiano, the incoming governor of Anambra state Professor Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the victory and also congratulate our members of the 12 local government chairmen of the APC that stood their grounds to fight this undemocratic process that brought in Mr Andy Uba.”
