Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has said that he will support his predecessor, Senator Umaru Al-makura, to become the next National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress.

The governor made the disclosure in Lafia on Monday while hosting members of the Senator George Akume Contact Group, who came to rally support for the two-term former Governor of Benue State who is contesting for the National Chairmanship position of the rulling APC.

According to the governor, Senator Al-Makura, who he refers to as a brother and mentor, has always been there for him.

He reiterated that he personally started the campaign for the APC to zone the national chairmanship position to the North Central geopolitical zone, adding that it was during the party’s membership registration drive that he went public to campaign for Senator Al-Makura to become the next national chairman of the APC.

He said, “I can’t hide my support for somebody like Tanko Al-Makura, who has always been there for me. When it’s time for me to be there for him, I will be there for him.

“It’s similar to what you are doing. Akume was there for you. He has supported each and everyone of you at one point or another. Today, you should not be shy to support this gentleman at every level.”

Sule, however, noted that since Nasarawa and Benue states are one, he would be at home if either Al-Makura or Akume becomes the national chairman.
