The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has issued a 21-day ultimatum to the Federal Government over unresolved issues, including the emergency revitalisation fund for public universities, payment of outstanding earned academic allowances, and release of withheld salaries, promotion arrears, and third-party deductions.

ASUU President Emmanuel Osodeke stated that the union’s National Executive Council meeting reviewed the outcomes of engagements with Federal and State Governments on outstanding issues and resolved to condemn the government’s refusal to address them.

The union expressed concern over the worsening living and working conditions in universities and the nation at large, and the government’s apparent fixated approach to legalistic and bureaucratic arm-twisting.

ASUU has given the government 21 days to address all outstanding issues, threatening to take appropriate action if the issues are not resolved.
