Atiku moves on from party crisis, appoints Secondus, Saraki, others as campaign aides

The presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar might have given up on attempts to reconcile with the camp of the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike ahead of the commencement of the electoral campaign.

The former Vice president on Monday announced the appointment of Wike’s arch enemy and former National chairman of the PDP, Uche Secondus as a Technical Adviser to his campaign.

Commenting on his appointment, Prince Secondus said, “I have just received the news of my appointment as Technical Adviser to H.E Atiku Abubakar in his 2023 Presidential Campaign.

“The mission to Rescue Nigeria that I initiated in 2018 will come to a fulfillment by the Special Grace of Almighty God.”

Also appointed by Atiku is Bukola Saraki, former Governor of Kano State, Ibrahim Shekarau, and ex-Senate President, Anyim Pius Anyim.

Paul Ibe, Media Adviser to the Presidential Candidate of the PDP said the appointments are “aimed at strengthening his presidential campaign team.”

Dr. Bukola Saraki was appointed as Special Envoy while Senator Pius Anyim, Senator Ibrahim Shekarau, former governor of Osun State, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, and Senator Ehigie Uzamere were appointed as Special Advisers.

“The appointments are to take immediate effect.

“Atiku Abubakar charged the appointees to use their vast political experiences in ensuring that the PDP presidential campaign records resounding success in the 2023 election,” Ibe said in a statement issued on Monday.
