Unknown gunmen suspected to be kidnappers on Monday abducted at least 10 students of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, along Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
According to Peoples Gazette reports, a source who prefers to speak under anonymity, said the students were on a road trip to Lagos. They were reportedly abducted shortly after they departed Kaduna at about 2:00 p.m. Sunday.
It was gathered that the victims are all 300level students of the Department of French who are embarking on a road trip to Lagos, for a mandatory language immersion programme, at the Nigeria French Language Village in Badagry, which was initially delayed by Corona virus.
The source noted that the kidnappers have reached out to the family of one of the victims identified as Jemimah Badmus demanding for a N30 million ransom.
The source said one of the students who tried to escape was shot during the release of a nursing mother amongst the students.
Kaduna Police Command spokesperson did not return several calls for comments as at the time of filing in this report.
Last week, gunmen kidnapped many along the notorious Abuja-Kaduna Highway.
