Emeritus professor and member of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Robert Ajayi Boroffice, has joined others in the party to declare interest in running for the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
He is making an official declaration on in Abuja Saturday.
The declaration where sources said he would roll out his programmes and agenda for Nigeria, is expected to be shown live on the national and international network service of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA).
Professor Boroffice made his mark in academia before venturing into politics. He began his academic career in 1975 as Lecturer II at the University of Ibadan. In 1985 he was invited to assist in the academic development of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos State, and due to his immense contributions to the development of the University in 1986, he was appointed a Professor of Zoology in the Lagos State University.
He midwived the Nigerian Space programme from its inception as the pioneer Director-General of the National Space Research and Development Agency and oversaw the launch of Nigeria’s first Satellite NigeriaSat-1 and later NigeriaSat-2, and NigComsat-1 which was the first communication satellite in Africa.
He is also the current Vice-Chairman of Science and Technology in the 9th Assembly and has continued to enjoy the support of his people as evident in his third term in the National Assembly.
