BREAKING: Awolowo’s daughter, Tola Oyediran, is dead

The eldest daughter of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Reverend Tola Oyediran, is dead.

The former Nigerian Tribune chairman reportedly died in her sleep.

Revd Oyediran was married to Professor A. B. O. O. Oyediran, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan.

Revd Oyediran, 79, was expected to mark her 80th birthday November 1. Her death leaves Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu as the only surviving child of the Awolowo dynasty.

National Publicity Secretary, Afenifere, Yinka Odumakin in a farewell message said the pan Yoruba movement is  devastated by the sad news of the demise of Mrs Tola Oyediran , the eldest surviving  child of its leader, Chief  Obafemi Awolowo.
“Mrs Oyediran who would have been 80 on Nov 1 passed on today when death  broke into her abode suddenly without illness.
“Mrs Oyediran was a lovely person who radiated warmth and love to all in her lifetime.
“Her death is a big blow we have to accept as we cannot change the will of God.
“We can only pray for God to take good care of the family she left behind.
“Eternal repose we pray for her soul.”
