Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, and wife, Edith, have tested positive to COVID-19. They were confirmed positive on Wednesday.
The governor and his wife had gone on self isolation after their daughter tested positive to the virus last week.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, said both the governor and his wife were in stable condition and had already commenced necessary treatment, and further isolation.
The statement quoted the governor as thanking the people of the state for their prayers for his family as he called for continued prayers for everyone undergoing treatment for the virus.
He said the state would continue to combat the virus, even as he urged the people to comply with prescribed protocols by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

He said, “COVID-19 is real. The rate is increasing in our state and the virus is taking the lives of some of our people. “I, therefore, again call on every Deltan to observe the protocols on the virus while in public, to curb further spread of the virus, especially in the communities.’’
