BREAKING: Manchester United Staff Leaves Club To Pursue New Challenges

Nicky Butt, Manchester United’s head of first-team development has reportedly left Manchester United in order to take on new challenges in football.

Nicky who came through the ranks at Manchester United at a young age and spent 12 years in the senior squad (from 1992) returned to Old Trafford as a coach for the club’s reserve team and served other coaching and development roles in the club before being appointed head of first-team development back in 2019.

In his farewell message to the club, he wrote: “Having come through the academy myself to play almost 400 games for Man United, it has been an awesome privilege to come back and work with a new generation of talent making the same journey. I’m proud of the role everyone on the staff plays in giving our young footballers the best possible chance of fulfilling their potential, and the results are clear to see in the increased number of homegrown players reaching the first team”.

“I already from my playing days how difficult it is to leave Manchester United but it feels like the right moment for a new professional challenge and I look forward to exploring opportunities that build on the great experiences I have had here over the past nine years”, he added.

Writing to Nicky, United’s coach Ole Gunner Solskjaer wrote: “The pedigree Nicky has with Manchester United has made him a great source of guidance and inspiration to our academy player since he returned to the club. We are all going to miss him around the AON training complex but he knows he will always be welcomed back”.
