BREAKING: PDP submits fresh names of Ebonyi governor, deputy to INEC

Following the removal of Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi and his deputy as both the governor and deputy governor of the state by the court on Tuesday, the Peoples Democratic Party says it has forwarded fresh names to the Independent National Electoral Commission.

The two of them were sacked by a Federal High Court in Abuja today.

The court sacked the governor and his deputy on account of their unlawful defection from the Peoples Democratic Party PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Justice Inyang Ekwo in a judgment on Tuesday ordered Umahi and his deputy to immediately stop holding themselves out as Governor and Deputy Governor of Ebonyi State.

The court declared their defection unlawful, unconstitutional, null and void and ordered them to immediately vacate their offices.

The PDP in a tweet on Tuesday said, “Following the removal of Gov Dave Umahi & his Deputy Mr. Igwe of Ebonyi state, and in line with the directives of the court, the
