On Wednesday, February 7, Vice President Kashim Shettima left Abuja for Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire, to support Nigeria’s Super Eagles as they face South Africa in the semi-finals of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations.
According to a statement published by Stanley Nkwocha, senior special assistant to the president on media and publicity in the Office of the Vice President, Shettima traveled for Abidjan at the request of President Bola Tinubu.
The match will take place later this evening at the Stade de la Paix in Bouake, Côte d’Ivoire.
The vice president’s visit will bolster Nigeria’s deep bond with football and its national identity.
