The Federal Government, through the Minister of Education, Prof Tahir Mamman, has approved the appointment of Dr Emmanuel Akinwale as the acting Registrar of Yaba College of Technology.
The appointment took effect from Friday, January 26, 2024.
This was contained in a statement signed by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Adekunle Adams, and made available to PUNCH Online on Wednesday.
Akinwale will be in an acting capacity until the substantive registrar is appointed by the Federal Government.

Until this appointment, he was the Head of Department, Council Affairs, in the Registry Unit of the College.
According to the statement, a catalogue of his achievements during his 43 years of service in the 77-year history of the college includes his appointment as First Secretary to the Committee of Federal Rectors in Nigeria (COFER) from June 1992 to December 1993.
The new acting registrar was elected a member of the College Governing Council (representing the congregation) on May 6, 2021, and became one of the first set of staff to occupy the position at Yaba College of Technology since the establishment of the Congregation as a statutory organ of Federal Polytechnics in Nigeria as provided in the Federal Polytechnic Act (2019) amended.
He holds B. A. (Hons), MPA, MSc (Political Science), PhD (Political Science), ÀCIPM, FNIM, FCIPA.
