Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, has shared the video of Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State accusing “elements” in the Presidential Villa of working against All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential candidate Bola Tinubu.

The First Lady uploaded the video on her verified Instagram handle on Wednesday, hours after El-Rufai made the allegation on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily programme.

The president’s wife, who leads Tinubu’s women campaign train, hashtagged the post “#longlivethefederalrepublicofnigeria”.

El-Rufai had claimed in the Channels Television interview that those working against Tinubu backed a different aspirant in the APC presidential primaries held in June last year.

The governor said the unnamed people are now hiding behind President Buhari to pursue their interests.

Petrol marketers make huge promise, says fuel will become available at affordable prices in 14 days.

“I believe there are elements in the villa who want us to lose the election because they didn’t get their way; they had their candidate. Their candidate did not win the primaries.

“They are trying to get us to lose the election, and they are hiding behind the president’s desire to do what he thinks is right,” El-Rufai said.

The Kaduna governor cited the lingering fuel scarcity and naira redesign by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) as strategies designed to make the ruling APC unpopular and make people reject Tinubu at the February 25 presidential election.

Recall that before the APC presidential convection when Tinubu claimed to have supported Buhari to become the president after several attempts, Aisha Buhari had defended Tinubu’s outburst saying did not say anything wrong and should keep up the heat to scare the “useless people” around the president who were working against the realisation of Tinubu’s presidential ambition.

According to reports, the president’s wife’s position was that a promise was made to Tinubu before the 2015 presidential election and Buhari was duty-bound to honour his word as “a man of integrity”. Even if he would not endorse Tinubu, he should not stand in his way or succumb to pressure to support Lawan. She clapped in excitement as Kayode Fayemi, the Ekiti state governor, announced that he was stepping down for Tinubu at the convention ground.
