Cash scarcity: Sanwo-Olu slashes transport fares on trains, BRT buses, boat, LAGRIDE

Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has announced a 50 percent reduction on all Lagos State Public Transport System for the next one week through the Cowry Card system.

He said this measure is to cushion the effect of the Fuel and Currency crisis.

In a tweet by Jubril Gawat on Wednesday, said that the governor also announced that the Buba Marwa concrete road construction in Ijegun Egba (about 60% completion) has been suspended, to ease the movement of Petroleum Products to various filling stations, in conjunction with the Nigerian National Petroleum Commission Limited and Independent Tank Farm Owners.

Governor Sanwo-Olu says the State Govt has agreed to give protection to Filling Stations that are willing to sell fuel to Lagosians on a 24-Hour basis, to make fuel more available to Lagosians.

Sanwo- Olu also announced the setting up of Food Banks across the State using different methods of distribution, to further cushion the effect of the current situation across the country.

On the currency issues, Governor Sanwo-Olu commends the Supreme Court and the Judiciary for the wise decision on the issue.
