Veteran Nigerian entertainer, Charles Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has condemned the proposed military invasion of Niger Republic.

Recall that President Bola Tinubu had on Friday briefed the National Assembly on the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) and proposed military action and other penalties against the coup plotters in the Niger Republic.

This was contained in a formal letter to the Senate and read during plenary by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Reacting to the development, Charly Boy opined that taking military action against the embattled country would lead to dire consequences.

He urged the All Progressives Congress not to delve into a situation that would be difficult to end.

Speaking via Twitter, he wrote, “The would-be military intervention in the Republic of Niger is creating tension across the West Africa sub-region. This development is getting international attention in that neighbouring country of ours.

“A war with people who appear to be uniting around a common interest, seeking Economic freedom and a departure from overbearing western influence will have very dire consequences.
