Los Blancos should have been much more at ease than they ultimately were. They had a complete first-half advantage and had the opportunity to outscore their opponents. They actually only scored two and were held back by a superb finish from Zubkov before securing the victory.

It’s difficult to be too harsh in the end because the victory made it three wins in a row in the Champions League. Real Madrid is now on the verge of moving on to the knockout stage, and a victory over Shakhtar next week would ensure their advancement.

Benzema had no luck in the Wednessday night game as, he attempted eight shots, but none of them were successful in finding the net. Though the Frenchman has only played in two games since making his return from injury, there is absolutely no cause for concern.
