An Iyaganku Chief Magistrates Court in Ibadan has remanded Olayinka Akinware, 35, and Tunji Adesina, 29, for allegedly unleashing four dogs on police officers to obstruct their arrest of a suspect.

Magistrate M. Mudashiru did not take the pleas of the suspects due to jurisdictional issues and ordered their remand at Abolongo Correctional Facility, pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution.

The case is adjourned until December 18, 2024, for further mention.

Prosecution Counsel Inspector Femi Oluwadare detailed the charges of conspiracy and prevention of arrest, stating that the suspects attempted to hinder the arrest of Korede Adeoye, who resided at their home.

On September 12, around 8:30 AM, Akinware and Adesina reportedly assaulted four police officers using branches of bamboo, in addition to unleashing their pitbull, rottweiler, and two Eskimo dogs during the incident.

The offence, committed at No. 15, Oluwo area of Ibadan, contravenes sections 332 and 516 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000, with section 332 stipulating life imprisonment for convicted offenders.
