A Coroner’s Court in Ikorodu, Lagos State, has threatened to subpoena key witnesses, including Naira Marley and Sam Larry, for failing to appear at the ongoing inquest into the death of singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, aka Mohbad.

The court had ordered substituted services for the witnesses after granting an application by Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, to serve witness summons on additional witnesses through a reputable national newspaper and social media. However, only Mohbad’s ally, Boluwatife Adeyemo, aka Darosha, was present in court on Wednesday.

The magistrate, T. A. Sotobi, warned that if the witnesses fail to appear at the next adjourned date, they will be subpoenaed. The hearing was adjourned till September 30.

Mohbad’s family has expressed disappointment and frustration with the police investigation into his death, accusing the police of relying on witnesses’ views without conducting a thorough investigation.
