The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has said that the scheme is not planning to reopen orientation camps for now.
The scheme’s Director of Press and Public Relations, Mrs. Adenike Adeyemi, who made the clarification in Abuja on Thursday, said that the corps will only reopen orientation camps across the country when it is safe to do so and after getting the nod of the Federal Government to do so.
Recall that the scheme had closed all orientation camps in March following the outbreak of coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria.

Adeyemi said the 2020 Batch A, Stream 1 orientation programme was suspended in March because of the high premium placed on the lives of corps members and other stakeholders, adding that the scheme would not do anything to compromise the safety of the prospective corps members and camp officials.
She said, “Even when it has been sufficiently established it is safe to proceed to the camps for the resumption of normal activities, the corps shall only do so when it has received the nod of the Federal Government.”

The scheme urged corps members to continue to wear face masks, wash their hands for at least twenty seconds, and use hand sanitiser.
