In line with its promise of making its UTME 2024 application documents free for Persons With Disabilities (PWDs), the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has refunded money paid by this category of candidates.

The Board in its bulletin on Tuesday said it had made some slight modifications to the free UTME forms for PWDs to prevent undeserving persons from hijacking the programme, hence its mandate to its JAMB-Equal Opportunity Group(JEOG) to conduct due diligence for deserving beneficiaries.

Consequently, it said JEOG had made available a list of beneficiaries to all Biometric Verification Registration Officials(BVROs) to refund application fees already paid by these candidates when they show up for the examination.

This policy was one of the recommendations made by stakeholders during the “2023 Two- day National Conference on Equal Opportunity of Access to Higher Education in Nigeria” organised by the Board.

The stakeholders had unanimously agreed that candidates with five credit passes in their O’levels, should enjoy this facility as a means of broadening access to tertiary institutions as well as removing all forms of inhibitions that could mitigate their career prospects.
