The ongoing turmoil within the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) escalated today as a faction of the National Working Committee (NWC) announced the suspension of Acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, and National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu, citing alleged disloyalty.
Ologunagba, in a statement on Friday, also announced the suspension of Damagum and Anyanwu.
The NWC expressed its condemnation of what it termed “anti-party activities” conducted by Damagum and Anyanwu, particularly regarding a contentious letter they sent to the Court of Appeal.
This letter pertains to the legal situation involving 27 former members of the Rivers State House of Assembly who left the PDP for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The statement detailed that “The NWC has extensively considered the series of complaints raised against the Acting National Chairman, Amb. Illiya Damagum and National Secretary, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu,” emphasizing that their actions violated both the PDP Constitution and their Oath of Office.

In response to this suspension, Ologunagba, previously suspended by Damagum’s faction, has asserted his own authority by announcing the suspensions of Damagum and Anyanwu.
Consequently, both officials are barred from participating in all NWC meetings, activities, and programs pending a full investigation by the National Disciplinary Committee, as outlined under Sections 57, 58, and 59 of the PDP Constitution.
