Cultural Centre Face-off: Amicable Resolution as Ogun Govt, ANTP Embrace Peace

The alleged under the tree revenue generation that snowballed into a major disagreement between members of the Association of Theatre-Arts Practitioners (ANTP) and the Ogun State Government has been resolved.

ANTP members  Thursday, March 21, 2024, resumed their rehearsals under the tree at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Abeokuta.

In a press statement issued and signed by the ANTP Governor, Ogun State Chapter, Mr. Bashir Sanni, the Association said the resolution was the result of consultations and meetings at the instance of the Senior Special Assistant to the Ogun State Governor on Public Communication, Otunba Dare Odufowokan.

The statement reads:” Members of Association of Nigeria Theatre Arts Practitioners (ANTP) started rehearsal today, Thursday, 21st March, 2024 after an amicable settlement of the issues between the Association and the Ogun State Ministry of Culture and Tourism.

“The resolution of the imbroglio was the result of consultations, press briefings and meetings initiated and moderated by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Public Communication Otunba Dare Odufowokan.

“ANTP is especially grateful to the fatherly magnanimity of Chief (Dr.) Sesan Fagbayi, the Honourable Commissioner for Culture & Tourism, Mr. Ifekayode Akinbode, the Consultant to the Governor on Public Communication, the Permanent Secretary, Directors of the Ministry and ANTP National President, Dr. Rasak ‘Baroka’ Oyadiran.

” We also express our gratitude for the unquantifiable media support and solidarity from Ogun State Indigenous Entertainment Professionals, League of Concerned Artistes, and Ogun State Chapter of TAMPAN.

“ANTP wishes to reiterate that we had no intention to embarrass the Prince Dapo Abiodun led administration but to seek public intervention and support in appealing to the Government. We therefore appreciate the amicable resolution of the hitch and look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with the State Government.”
