The Lagos Division of the Court of Appeal has affirmed the 60-year jail term imposed on a former Supervisor at Chrisland School, Adegboyega Adenekan, who was convicted for defiling a two-year-old pupil of the school.
Justice Sybil Nwaka of the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja had earlier convicted Adenekan on October 24, 2019. But Adenekan approached the Court of Appeal seeking to overturn the judgement.
The appeal was however dismissed by a three-man panel headed by Justice Mohammed Garba for lacking in merit. The court also affirmed the 60-year jail term imposed on him by the high court.

The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions had told the court that Adenekan had “unlawful sexual intercourse” with the minor in November 2016 in Lagos in contravention of Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2011.
Adenekan had pleaded not guilty when he was arraigned in January 2018. He was however pronounced guilty by Justice Nwaka in a judgement delivered on October 24, 2019.
