In today’s digital age, laptops have become an essential tool for many people, especially men who are always on the go.

With their portability and lightweight design, laptops have made it easier for men to work, study, and even entertain themselves from anywhere.

However, the convenience of using a laptop on the lap has raised concerns about the potential health risks associated with prolonged use.

According to a study by the Ionising and Non-ionising Radiation Protection Research Centre (INIRPRC), 88% of male university students use laptops, with a mean daily use of 3 hours, 3 minutes, and 36 seconds to 1 hour, 33 minutes, and 36 seconds. The average time laptops were spent “on lap” was 28 minutes and 48 seconds – 45 minutes and 36 seconds.

The study found that the heat generated by laptops, as well as the electromagnetic fields and Wi-Fi radiation they emit, can increase scrotal temperature, decrease sperm quality, and cause poor posture.

Therefore, it is recommended that laptops should not be used on the lap for extended periods of time. While further research is needed on this issue, a 2005 study by Sheynkin et al. also found a significant increase in scrotal temperature due to heat exposure and posture-related effects.
