Before you take that herbal concoctions – See the deadly substances inside them

The herbal concoction has been a widely accepted mode of treatment for sickness and diseases in Nigeria. It is said to combat various sicknesses relating to high blood sugar, diabetes, malaria, and typhoid amongst others.

These concoctions are usually hawked around by vendors or sold in stalls at bus stops and are cheaply sold compared to other approved drugs, hence their adoption by lots of Nigerians.

A Nigerian doctor, Olusina Mike took samples of herbal concoctions from different parts of Nigeria to a lab at the University of Lagos for analysis. Here are deadly things found inside the tested herbal concoction.

NAPHTHALENE

Naphthalene is used popularly to make Camphor balls. The white balls are sometimes used in preserving clothes. It is used in making chemicals for killing Pests in farms, dyes, and concretes.

Naphthalene destroys Blood cells and has been linked to Cancer.  Some countries have banned Naphthalene balls, but it is still in Nigeria. Agbo was seen to have contained Naphthalene. Naphthalene should not be taken as a drink.

Acenaphthylene

Acenaphthylene is used in making dyes that are used in coloring clothes. Because of its peculiarities, it is also used as a pigment used to hold colours in different clothing types You’d wonder why will a drink contains something used for making Dye.

Fluorene

Fluorene is gotten from Coal. also found when you burn Plastics or Pipes made with Polyvinyl chloride. It is also used in the metallic industry to make add to some metals. Don’t confuse it with FLUORIDE in toothpaste. They’re different.

Anthracene

It is gotten from Coal too. It is used in making Insecticides like Raid, Baygon, etc.
Also, wood preservatives are used a lot.

Anthracene too can be found in Cigarette smoke.
Studies have shown long-time exposure to Anthracene can cause skin damage.

PHENANTHRENE

It is used to make plastics and explosives, dyes and chemicals for killing pests.

Animal studies have linked it to the possible Cancer causes.
Studies to link it to cancer are still in humans.

He said, “The Agbo samples have all these dangerous substances which are capable of creating unimaginable organ damage.”
