Drama As Police Arrest 25-year-old Woman Supplying Logistics To Bandits In Katsina

The Katsina State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old female, Rashida Hussaini, suspected to be an informant and supplier of petrol to bandits in some forests in the state, according to SaharaReporters.

The spokesman of the command, Superintendent of Police Gambo Isah, while parading the suspect at the Command Headquarters said she was nabbed with six gallons of petrol concealed in a sack and a handbag hidden under her hijab.

The police spokesman said the suspect was arrested along Kofar Guga-Jibiya Road within the metropolis and her matter became more suspicious when she could not give a definite address where she came from.

According to Isah, the suspect said she is a resident of Daddara, a village in Jibiya Local Government Area, and claimed she is from Gombe State, as well as from Hirji, a village in the Niger Republic.

The police also said the act was against the containment order banning sales of petrol in jerry cans.

According to the police, Hussaini would be charged for aiding and abetting banditry, moreso that the suspect’s husband is presently in the forest.

The arrest according to Isah is in furtherance to the implementation and enforcement of the Security Containment Order, signed by Governor Aminu Masari, over the rising case of banditry in the state.

Speaking over her arrest, the suspect confessed to have come from Hirji in Niger Republic. She denied that the petrol was for bandits in the forest, saying it was meant for grinding machines.

She further denied that her husband is a bandit in the forest, but in Ghana, seeking greener pasture.

Isah, therefore, said the suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigations, to serve as a deterrent to others.
