The sacked Special Assistant on Media to Abdullahi Ganduje, the Kano State Governor, Salihu Yakasai, has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS).
A family member confirmed his freedom Monday night.
“Alhamdulilah. My brother @dawisu is out. Thank you all! #freedawisu,” Abdullahi Yakasai tweeted.
The former aide to the Kano State governor was arrested after he asked President Muhammadu Buhari to resign.
Yakasai made the call last Friday following the abduction of over 300 schoolgirls from the Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe, in Zamfara State, by armed bandits.
Yakasai, who reacted to the students’ abduction on his Twitter handle, asked the President to address the incessant abduction of students by bandits and other security challenges in the country or resign.
Nigerians and organisations condemned his arrest.
In reaction, DSS said he was not in custody over his remarks on President Buhari.
