The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has assured the public that the arrest and ongoing detention of its suspended Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, will not hinder the agency’s efforts in combating corruption.
Despite Bawa’s prolonged detention of 75 days, the EFCC remains committed to investigating individuals, both high-profile and low-profile, suspected of engaging in corrupt practices.
According to Wilson Uwujaren, the spokesperson for the commission, “Bawa’s detention will not impede the probe of prominent figures, including former and current governors and ministers such as Bello Matawalle, Yahaya Bello, and Kayode Fayemi.
These individuals were already under investigation by the EFCC prior to the appointment of acting Chairman Abdulkarim Chukkol.”
The EFCC’s statement seeks to assure the public that the agency is functioning effectively, despite the challenges it currently faces.
