Elon Musk has shared a photograph of him partying with Google founder Sergey Brin last night to disprove a Wall Street Journal report that he slept with Brin’s wife Nicole Shanahan and triggered the end of their marriage.

The photo shows Musk and Brin partying outdoors with two unidentified women. It’s unclear where exactly it was taken – Musk was last seen in Mykonos last week – but his jet flew from Austin, where he lives, to San Jose on Saturday. It flew back to Austin last night, landing at 11 pm last night.

The fun-loving image was given to The New York Post last night as Musk worked overtime to discredit the Journal’s claim that he had slept with Shanahan at Art Basel last year and, in the process, ruined his friendship with Brin.

Musk also tweeted last night that he believes the Journal is running hit pieces against him in an effort to undermine Tesla stock.

‘Total BS,’ he said of the report, adding jokingly that he ‘hadn’t had sex for months’.

‘Sergey and I are friends and were at a party together last night! I’ve only seen Nicole twice in three years, both times with many other people around. Nothing romantic.

‘The character assassination attacks have reached a new level this year, but the articles are all nothing-burgers. I work crazy hours, so there just isn’t much time for shenanigans. None of the key people involved in these alleged wrongdoings were even interviewed!’ he said of the article.

‘WSJ has run so many bs hit pieces on me and Tesla I’ve lost count! It’s embarrassing for them, frankly’. Musk also urged his followers to call out the press.

‘WSJ is supposed to have a high standard for journalism and, right now, they are way sub tabloid. WSJ should be running stories that actually matter to their readers and have solid factual basis, not third-party random hearsay,’ he added.

According to the Journal’s sources, Nicole and Sergey were already having marital problems because of the stress of COVID-19. They were also arguing over the care of their four-year-old daughter.

It’s unclear if Sergey attended Art Basel but Musk, newly single after splitting from musician Grimes, was there and at some stage allegedly became romantic with Nicole.

A month later, Sergey filed for divorce. In the official papers, he gave December 15 as the date of separation.

Sources cited by the Journal say Nicole is now seeking $1billion in their divorce – a fraction of her husband’s $95billion wealth but more than he says she is entitled to under the conditions of their prenuptial agreement, according to the Journal.

She is arguing that he forced her to sign the prenup under duress while pregnant, according to the newspaper.

At a party after Sergey filed for divorce, Musk is said to have run into him and begged for his forgiveness. Publicly, he accepted his apology but the two – who were once close friends – are no longer on regular speaking terms, the Journal’s sources say.

Sergey and Nicole met at a yoga retreat in 2016, according to the Journal. She was, at the time, a patent lawyer and tech entrepreneur in her own right.

Nicole was profiled on the cover of San Francisco magazine in June last year.

She was heralded as a ‘change maker’, and told the interviewer how she overcame a childhood with a ‘bipolar schizophrenic father.

‘My dad was diagnosed with bipolar schizophrenia when I was 9, and my Chinese-born mom had only been in the US for two years when I was born. I had two unemployed parents for the majority of my childhood, so not only was there no money, there was almost no parental guidance, and as you can imagine with a mentally ill father, there was lots of chaos and fear.’
