Nigerian singer shortlisted for 2023 Oscar Awards

Popular Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, better known as Tems, has been shortlisted for the 2023 Oscar Awards.

The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), recently announced the shortlists in 10 categories.

The categories include: ‘Documentary Feature Film’, ‘Documentary Short Film’, ‘International Feature Film’, ‘Makeup and Hairstyling’, and ‘Music( Original Score)’.

Others are ‘Music (Original Song)’, ‘Animated Short Film’, ‘Live Action Short Film’, ‘Sound’ and ‘Visual Effects’.

The ‘Crazy Things’ crooner was shortlisted in the ‘Music (Original Song)’ category for ‘Life Me Up’, a soundtrack off Marvel’s ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’.

Each shortlist is to be determined by members of that corresponding branch, except for the International Feature Film category.

The official nominations list for the 95th Academy Awards will be released on January 24, 2023.

The Oscars ceremony will then be held at the Dolby Theatre, Ovation Hollywood, US on March 23, 2023.
