Ex-Punch staff launch book on career experiences

A book titled “Our Punch Years” is set to be launched in Lagos on Wednesday, December 20, 2023.

 

The book, edited by Lekan Otufodunrin, former Group News Editor of The Punch Newspaper, features the experiences of 38 former staff members of the newspaper during their time at the company.

The launch event will take place at the NECA Hall in Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos. Mrs. Angela Emuwa, Chairman of Punch Nigeria Limited, will serve as the Chairman of the event.

Mr. Gbenga Omotoso, Lagos State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, is expected to attend as a special guest, along with other dignitaries.

Dr. Tunde Akanni, an associate professor of Journalism at Lagos State University, will be the book reviewer.”Our Punch Years” documents the memorable and insightful experiences of these accomplished journalists, many of whom currently hold senior positions in both the media and other sectors.

The book aims to contribute to the 50th anniversary of Punch Nigeria Limited and is dedicated to the founding Chairman, Chief James Olu Aboderin.In addition to the book launch, there will be a roundtable discussion on best practices for sustainability in the media industry, specifically in the new media age.

Top managers from print and broadcast organizations in the country will participate in the discussion.According to Otufodunrin, the book serves as a tribute to the years spent at The Punch Newspaper, which greatly influenced the career journeys of the former staff members.

The book aims to preserve their experiences for future generations and provide valuable insights for those interested in learning from them.
