The Central Bank of Nigeria has said that the old Naira notes of N200, N500, and N1,000 have ceased to be legal tender in Nigeria from February 10, 2023.

This is in spite of the ruling of the Supreme Court that the notes remain legal tender until February 15, when it would hear the case brought before it by three states namely Kaduna, Kogi, and Zamfara. The states had asked the court to restrain the CBN from effecting the deadline.
