The Nigerian government has provided updates on school reopening.
The Federal Government had earlier released a statement that schools would remain shut until the country was able to curtail the spread of coronavirus. However, many were keen on government reopening schools, regardless of the spike in the number of confirmed cases of coronavirus.
The Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, while addressing the issue during a briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, on Monday, advised all state governments on what to do.
The minister, speaking on behalf of President Muhammadu Buhari, said governors across the country should not yield to the pressures the people are placing on them towards the reopening of school. He said no state has been given the guidance to reopen schools in the country as it is still not safe to do so.
