The Lagos State Universal Basic Board in collaboration with the Federal Government is set to ensure that primary 1-3pupils in public owned primary schools in the state are fed a meal during school hours.

The special adviser to the president on school feeding programme, Dr Dotun Adebayo, made this known at St. Agnes Primary School Hall, Maryland, Ikeja, during the distribution of plates and spoons to the pupils.

He said the distribution of plates and spoons was prompted by the discovery that most pupils do not go to school with plates. ”In order to avoid an unhygienic presentation of the meals, we took a step further to make sure that every child has a decent plate to eat”, he said.

The Executive Chairman of LASUBEB, Wahab Alawiye-King, while delivering his speech, praised the Federal Government for the initiative, adding that it would boost the level of enrollment in public primary school, reduce malnutrition among the pupils, and aid learning process.
