The Acting Director of the FCT Fire Service, Amiola Adebayo, confirmed the incident and stated that the fire was further aggravated by a generator kept inside the shop where the fire started. The fire was eventually put out at 1:59 am by combined teams of the FCT and Federal Fire Service.

Adebayo explained that the fire service arrived at the scene within 10-12 minutes of receiving the call, despite network challenges that made it difficult to reach them initially.

He also stated that the cause of the fire was an electrical spark from a power change-over installed in one of the shops.
