A young Nigerian graduate identified as Usman Abubakar has reportedly burnt all his certificates over inability to secure a job.
The frustrated graduate did not provide information on the institutions attended. But some
of the certificates reportedly burnt by Abubakar, who hails from Katsina State, included the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), higher institution and secondary school certificates.
The pictures of the burnt certificates which emerged on social media, showed Abubakar gathering all the certificates, tearing them into pieces before setting them ablaze.
Unemployment is a major problem in Nigeria with available Statistics showing that Nigeria’s unemployment rate has climbed to 28.6 per cent. Nigeria is said to harbour a large population of youths with some claiming that 66 per cent of Nigerians are youths.
