Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has declared that his administration will not yield to blackmail, asserting a commitment to prioritizing the interests of the people.
Speaking during the 64th Nigerian Independence Day Anniversary parade at the Government House Arcade in Port Harcourt, Fubara emphasized the importance of integrity and infrastructure development in the state.
In his address, Fubara responded to ongoing tensions with his predecessor and political godfather, Nyesom Wike.
“We will never surrender to barefaced lies and blackmail from anyone, no matter how powerful they may be,” he asserted, reaffirming his dedication to the welfare of Rivers State.
Fubara expressed gratitude to the citizens and supporters nationwide for their solidarity, particularly in light of the economic challenges facing the country. He called for collective support for President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to improve the national situation.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s founding values, he stated, “The vision of our founding fathers was to build a united and secure nation anchored on democracy, justice, and equality for all.” He urged Nigerians to remain hopeful and committed to democratic principles, despite the current hardships.
