The President of the Petroleum Products Retail Outlets Owners Association (PETROAN), Billy Gillis-Harry, has attributed the ongoing fuel scarcity to persistent logistical challenges.
He explained that oil marketers are facing supply constraints, which means they can only distribute what they have available.
Gillis-Harry identified the issue as a ship-to-ship transfer problem, where ships cannot deliver products to depots until they receive their cargo.
- He assured that marketers are in talks with the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to resolve the supply challenges.
The scarcity has led to increased prices, with a litre of petrol selling for between ₦800 and ₦1,000 at some filling stations. Black market operators have also exploited the situation, conducting business at a rapid pace.
