FUNAAB Resumes 2nd Semester On May 16, Opens Hostels For Students In 300 Level And Above

Students of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) are due back on campus from May 16, 2021, as authorities of the Institution has announced resumption for the 2nd Semester.

However, students in 100 and 200 levels are exempted from physical presence on campus as they are all expected to continue receiving virtual lectures from their homes, as dictated by the realities of the Covid 19 Pandemic.

The University’s Registrar, Dr Bola Adekola, made the disclosure in a press statement in Abeokuta on Saturday.

Dr Adekola also announced some minor amendments to the current University academic calendar as approved by the Senate of the Institution.

As part of the new arrangements, the University has flung its hostels open to interested students who are to bid for spaces online on a first-come, first-served basis.

The hostel will however be for only students from levels 300 to 500 who are to be physically present on campus to receive lectures.

However, according to the Registrar, all lectures for 100-500 Level courses in Veterinary Medicine shall be held physically on Campus.

The Registrar’s statement said the new arrangements were the fallout of a meeting of the Senate which held on Tuesday, May 11, 2021, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof Felix Kolawole Salako.

Dr Adekola also said all 400 Level B AGRIC students are to continue their Farm Practical Year programme while those in 400 Level Engineering and 300 Level Science Classes are to proceed or continue their SIWES activities in line with their curricular and are therefore not expected in Classes.

He further disclosed that all practical classes for all the Levels are however to be held in physical forms in the designated laboratories on campus.

According to him, practical classes for 100 Level students shall be conducted in batches as students shall be grouped to avoid large number attending at the same time.

He added that each group shall be informed of days and time for their practical classes on the campus

He emphasised that hostel accommodation shall however be granted in line with COVID-19 protocol arrangements, even as he enjoined all students are to note that all the non-pharmaceutical protocols for COVID-19 as released by the approved authorities shall be adhered to strictly.

Therefore, the Registrar enjoined students to always wear their face masks, wash and sanitize their hands regularly at designated places while on campus and also strictly follow the seating arrangements in the Lecture Halls and Classrooms in line with the social distancing policy for COVID-19 protocols.
